Because of the huge size that an English Mastiff can attain, it seems that its ancestors were cows…or maybe, the other way around. You can compare this gigantic dog to a cow because of its huge weight and size but that’s not the only comparison you can make between cows and English mastiff dogs. Like cows, this breed of dog is a gentle breed and just by looking at its face, you can almost say that it has no guts to kill a fly but don’t get fooled with its appearance. In the olden days, Romans used to use these dogs as attack dogs but when they came around the British Isles, they were trained and cared for to be house pets and that’s why, the Mastiff was even considered as a gentle giant. It’s really fascinating to have something like this by your side and although they can be gentle, they are still dogs so the best thing you can do is to find a good training and caring guide specifically designed for both English Mastiff puppies and fully-grown ones.
